QR Code Use Cases and Formats

A QR code just encodes a string into modules. What happens on scan depends on the content format: a URL, WIFI: config, BEGIN:VCARD contact or mailto: link. Static codes never expire; dynamic codes depend on a short-link service and break if it stops.

Static: content is in the code, works offline and never expires.

Dynamic: points to a short link, editable and measurable, but depends on the service.

Wi-Fi: WIFI:T:WPA;S:ssid;P:password;;

vCard: BEGIN:VCARD...END:VCARD

Email: mailto:you@example.com?subject=Hi

FAQ

Can a static QR track scans?

Not directly; use a dynamic short link or landing page for analytics.

Does a Wi-Fi QR expose the password?

Yes, anyone who scans gets it; do not post a guest Wi-Fi code publicly.
